Kementerian kesehatan sebagai lembaga yang menangani kesehatan masyarakat melalui Direktorat Jenderal Kesehatan Masyarakat Direktorat Gizi telah membuat tabel data komposisi pangan yang dapat memberikan informasi kandungan zat gizi pangan dari berbagai daerah di wilayah Indonesia sebagai upaya perbaikan gizi masyarakat. Data komposisi pangan yang terdapat pada Tabel Komposisi Pangan Indonesia (TKPI) dapat mewakili data nasional yang lengkap, akurat dan terstandar yang dapat dijadikan informasi bagi masyarakat dalam memilih dan mengkombinasikan pangan sehat menurut kandungan gizinya.
Golongan makanan yang dibahas kandungan gizinya di bawah ini adalah golongan daging, unggas dan olahan, dan telur.
